Introduction to Web Development 2024

$195.00

This is a one semester class that provides an introduction to web development for homeschoolers.

Description

** The fall class is canceled due to low enrollment. We need at least 4 students. If you want to purchase this class and can find at least 3 others you are welcome to email meryl@fundafunda.com and we can open it. The class will be offered in the spring. **

In this course, students will learn how to create browser-based software applications. Unlike traditional computer science courses that begin with theory and basic concepts, this course is structured around projects where students build apps like those found on a smartphone or tablet. Theory and concepts will be introduced as they are needed within the context of each project.

Most web-based applications consist of multiple files. Some are hypertext markup language (HTML); some are cascading style sheets (CSS); some are JavaScript; and some are media like images, movies, or downloadable content. Many of these files will be part of the same local file system, while others may be located on other servers elsewhere on the Internet. Additionally, many modern web pages and applications make requests of and retrieve data from remote web services using public application programming interfaces (APIs). Students will learn about each of these components and how they relate to provide the rich user experience we have come to expect from web applications.

This is a 16-week course, 1 semester online introduction to web-development class.
