Introduction to Game Programming Lite

$0.00

Description

This class is a general overview of some of the elements that go into creating video games.

Students learn about

  • game design
  • game graphics
  • game logic

By the end of the class, they will have designed some fun games, created a number of graphics that can be used in games, played games that teach coding logic and created an interactive e-card. All the online websites they will use will be free and work on Mac or Windows devices – but not always on iPads, iPhones or tablets.

The class is designed to be completed over 4 weeks if students spend 1/2 to an hour each day on it, but they can take as long as they need as it will stay open the whole semester / summer / fall.

This class is designed to precede the Scratch programming classes.

How does this class differ from the paid Intro to Game Programming Class?

  1. There are no teachers or teaching assistants in the class to offer help if students get stuck
  2. There are no prizes for great projects
  3. There are fewer assignments – none of the essential ones are missing, but there are more in the paid version.

Quotes from past students

Ian:  I cant wait for more.

Collin K : This is really neat and I like this class.

Joel L: Did it. Wow that was fun!!!!! thanks 🙂

Lawrence: I think these lessons are totally AWESOME!!!!!

William A : I wish it was FIVE weeks instead of four

How this class works:

  1. You “purchase” access to the unit study (Cost is $0). This access is good for up to as many students as you wish. Intended age range is from 4th – 10th grade.
  2. The parent signs into the unit study classroom with the link provided in the confirmation email.
  3. There are 4 modules. These are designed so that you can do one a week. But you can spread each one over 2 weeks. Or do all 4 in one week. It’s your call! All the modules will be available indefinitely.
  4. Assignments aren’t graded but we do provide answers wherever needed.
