This class will provide relevant information and cover the basics of the human body, diseases, nutrition, exercise etc. Assignments will be engaging and designed to help students make good decisions about their health.

We aren’t using textbooks and there will only be some quizzes – no tests or exams. Mastery of the material will be evaluated through projects and their responses to the material studied.

The class is taught by 3 moms who couldn’t find a fun, interesting, and useful Health curriculum for their own children, so they decided to create one. It will not cover sex education (we will cover the reproductive system as part of body systems but not in much detail) as we believe that is best taught by parents.

Topics covered include:
Body systems (as this is necessary for an understanding of health)
Mental and Emotional Health
Diseases – what causes them and how to identify the common ones
Sleep
Exercise – why it is important and the different types
Nutrition
Eating Disorders
Addiction
First Aid

Hours: 4-5 hours each week

Credit Hours: 1/2 High School Credit

Spring Dates: January 10 – May 2  (any week in March can be taken for Spring break)

    The class is amazing, there is great content, and it was very well put together. I am a martial artist, I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, diet is important for that so you can stay healthy, you need mobility and speed, and staying healthy is a big part of keeping those in working order. Working out is too, and there is information about working out in the class as well. There is also things about sleep, disease, CPR, and First AID which are all very handy to know.

    This class is absolutely amazing!!! It covers such a wide variety of useful information, and it is explained in an understandable and interesting, and fun way. I learned an incredible amount of new information taking this class.

    I loved the class! It was very helpful in breaking pretty hard topics on health into digestible parts. It covers a wide array of different topics from physical health to even emotional health which was very cool and unexpected. This is my favorite health class I’ve taken so far.

    Some parts of this class I enjoyed and some I didn’t but I think the teachers did a amazing job putting it together. Overall I learned a lot in this class and recommend it.

    This class is phenomenal. It is taught by my old Science Olympiad teachers who really know their stuff as they have been to the national competition and beaten most public schools. Mrs. van der Merwe, Mrs. Fulghum, and Mrs. Bosse each specialize in different subjects, so they split up the class into the right ones. The class is just the right amount of work and they make it fun by adding games and cool assignments (like this video I created for an assignment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9GGVTdE3-g) that make learning fun. They don’t focus on stuff like “brush your teeth every morning,” but dive into the reasons you should get brush your teeth, which gives you more of an incentive to do it! I am just finishing it up, with incredible results, and I can now say that this is easily the best health class out there, whether online or in person. 6 stars if I could.
