Description
The Scratch Christmas Coding Contest contest is aimed at 4th through 12th graders whether they have any programming knowledge or not.
What is the contest about?
The task will be to create an interactive Christmas scene using Scratch. Scratch is a free online drag-and-drop programming language that makes it very easy to code. All the instructions will be provided in the online classroom students will access after registering.
Students new to coding will be able to watch video tutorials to help them get started learning to code in Scratch. It really is VERY easy.
How will you judge if some students already know how to code and others don’t?
Students will be divided into 2 groups – those new to programming in Scratch and those with some experience. They will not be competing against each other. The age of the student will also be taken into account when we judge. If you have never coded before there are instructions provided
Prizes
First place in each division (new programmer/those with some experience) is guaranteed at least a $15 gift card. More money and more places receiving prizes will depend on the number of entrants. 50% of the money we receive as registration fees will be distributed to the top students as gift cards. We will keep contestants updated and update this page as the month progresses as to the status of the prize money!
All students will receive a $5 coupon to use on any of our programming classes.
The final project submission due date for the 2020 contest is December 24th, 2020.
