Description
** This is a full-year class. Both semesters need to be completed to receive credit **
This high school French 1 class is an introduction to the French language and culture. The four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing are developed with an emphasis on effective oral communication, the acquisition of concrete vocabulary, and basic grammar skills.
This is achieved through a variety of activities aimed at addressing different learning styles. These activities may include but are not limited to taped listening activities, oral drills, dialoguing, paired question/answer activities, and independent cultural projects. Tests will also be used to evaluate mastery.

This was a great class! I really enjoyed being able to learn at home with all of the benefits of having a class. Sebastien is a wonderful teacher and gives very clear directions. His lessons were great and he responded to questions or comments very quickly. I can’t wait to take French 2 next year!

I enjoyed this class! I’m not very good at learning new languages, but the textbook and M. Sebastien’s lectures made everything easy to understand. He always gave helpful advice on my grammar and pronunciation. The vocabulary and phrases we learned are super practical and applicable. I also enjoyed the little sections in the curriculum about the culture of French-speaking countries, it just made learning even more fun.

I thought this class was fun! My favorite aspect of the course was that it went beyond discussion, and covered deeper aspects of the French language. I found the workload very doable, and was able to complete it in about three hours each week. I am looking forward to continuing my French studies!
