Description
How to Create Digital Gifts is a great web-based unit study for students who don’t have money to buy gifts. They may not have considered making digital gifts that are easy to ship (send with a click!) and don’t need supplies. As a bonus, students will learn valuable techie skills.
The four modules will cover the following topics:
Module 1: Creating games in Scratch (this will teach simple coding so that they can create a fun game
Module 2: Creating a compendium of games (this will cover creating short games and activities eg crossword puzzles and online jigsaw puzzles that can be bundled together as a gift)
Module 3: Creating a “Choose Your Own Adventure” story
Module 4: Creating an online board game
Bonus module: How to create gift certificates and virtual cards
All the software and websites they will use will be free. There will be video tutorials to walk them through how to do each of these.
By the end of this unit study, your children will have learned basic programming in Scratch (an easy drag-and-drop language), learned to use graphic design software, and been introduced to many websites they can unleash their creativity on.
Imagine how excited friends and family will be to receive personalized digital gifts from your children this Christmas.
Recommended age: 5th-12th grade
You will have access to this unit study for as long as you want!
