Description
Course Description:
Starting in Anglo-Saxon England, this course will reach back in time to some of our earliest literature and study how the written word has been used to convey cultural shifts and political and religious ideas. Students will read novels, a play, short stories, and poetry by the prominent writers of British literature. Students will be expected to write several essays and take semester tests. (Familiarity with writing academic essays MLA format is helpful. If your student is in 9th grade, we recommend taking our High School English/Literature and Composition course first.)
Please note: This class can be started in the spring semester to earn a 1/2 credit. Completing the fall semester is not a pre-requisite. However, jumping in mid-year comes with the expectation that the student understands writing fundamentals, is familiar with MLA Format, and is capable of reading multiple novels in 16 weeks.
